Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.75 cups Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 0.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups Dark brown sugar
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 0.5 cups Pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cups Chopped walnuts or pecans (toasted)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and dark brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes using an electric mixer.

Step 4

Add the eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Step 5

Mix in the maple syrup and vanilla extract until fully combined, ensuring the batter has an even consistency.

Step 6

Alternately add the dry flour mixture and milk to the wet ingredients, starting and ending with the flour mixture, in about three additions. Mix just until combined after each addition; do not overmix.

Step 7

Gently fold in the toasted chopped nuts using a spatula, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with the back of a spatula or offset knife.

Step 9

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.

Step 10

Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10 minutes. Then carefully remove it from the pan and let it cool completely.

Step 11

For serving, optionally dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with additional maple syrup for added richness. Cut into squares or slices and enjoy!
