Ingredients

  • 180 ml Warm water
  • 2 tbsp Instant coffee powder
  • 60 ml Milk
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 420 g All-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 100 g Raisins

Directions

Step 1

In the bread machine pan, add the ingredients in the following order unless your bread machine’s manual advises differently: warm water, coffee powder, milk, unsalted butter, sugar, and salt.

Step 2

Add the all-purpose flour next, making sure to cover the liquid ingredients completely with the flour. This creates a barrier to prevent the yeast from being activated too soon.

Step 3

Make a small well (indentation) in the center of the flour and add the active dry yeast into it. Avoid letting the yeast touch the liquid at this point.

Step 4

Place the bread machine pan securely into your bread machine and close the lid.

Step 5

Select the 'Sweet Bread' or 'Basic Bread' setting, depending on your machine’s options. Choose a size of 1.5 lb or equivalent and set the crust color to your liking (light, medium, or dark). Press 'Start'.

Step 6

When your machine signals the ‘add-ins’ time (usually after the first kneading cycle), add the raisins. If your machine does not have a signal, add the raisins manually and restart the kneading cycle.

Step 7

Once the bread is finished baking, carefully remove the bread pan from the machine using oven mitts and allow the loaf to cool for 10 minutes in the pan.

Step 8

Gently turn the loaf out of the pan onto a wire rack and allow it to cool completely before slicing.
