Ingredients

  • 480 ml Freshly brewed strong coffee
  • 100 g Granulated sugar
  • 60 ml Fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 4 leaves Fresh mint leaves (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Brew 480 ml of strong coffee and pour it into a heatproof bowl.

Step 2

While the coffee is still hot, stir in the granulated sugar until it is completely dissolved.

Step 3

Add the fresh orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract to the sweetened coffee. Stir well to combine.

Step 4

Transfer the mixture to a shallow metal or glass dish to allow for even freezing.

Step 5

Place the dish in the freezer and allow it to freeze for 30 minutes.

Step 6

After 30 minutes, use a fork to scrape the partially frozen granita, breaking up any ice crystals that form.

Step 7

Return the dish to the freezer and repeat the scraping process every 30 minutes for a total of 3 hours. This will create a granular, snow-like texture.

Step 8

Once the granita reaches the desired consistency, scoop it into chilled serving glasses or bowls.

Step 9

Garnish with fresh mint leaves, if desired, and serve immediately.
