Ingredients

  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 0.5 cup Brewed strong coffee
  • 0.25 cup Bourbon
  • 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 1.5 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the ketchup, brewed coffee, and bourbon over medium heat. Stir well to mix the liquids.

Step 2

Add the apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and molasses to the saucepan. Stir until the sugar has dissolved into the mixture.

Step 3

Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard, followed by the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the pan.

Step 5

Once the sauce begins to thicken slightly (about 5 minutes), reduce the heat to low and let it cook for an additional 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired consistency.

Step 6

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt or cayenne pepper as preferred.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the sauce to cool slightly. Transfer to a clean jar or airtight container for storage.

Step 8

Use immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 week. Serve with grilled meats, vegetables, or use as a dip or marinade.
