Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 0.5 cup dark brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the brewed coffee, ketchup, dark brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and molasses over medium heat. Stir well until the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 2

Add the smoked paprika, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir thoroughly to combine all the ingredients.

Step 3

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Step 5

Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt, sugar, or spices based on your preference.

Step 6

Remove from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.

Step 7

Transfer the Coffee BBQ Grilling Sauce to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Step 8

Use the sauce as a marinade, baste, or dipping sauce for grilled meats, vegetables, or tofu.
