Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Live lobsters
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sea salt or kosher salt
  • 4 pieces Lemon wedges
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Fill a large pot with 4 cups of water and add 1 tablespoon of sea salt or kosher salt.

Step 2

Place a steaming rack inside the pot ensuring it is just above the water level.

Step 3

Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.

Step 4

Rinse the live lobsters quickly under cold running water and then place them on the steaming rack in the pot, back side up.

Step 5

Replace the lid and steam the lobsters for approximately 10 to 12 minutes for the first 1-pound lobster. Add an additional 2 minutes for each additional lobster.

Step 6

Check that the lobsters are cooked: the shell should turn bright red and the meat inside should be firm and white.

Step 7

While the lobsters are steaming, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat and finely chop 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley.

Step 8

Once the lobsters are cooked, carefully remove them from the pot using tongs or gloves, being mindful as they will be very hot.

Step 9

Split the lobster shells to expose the meat for easier serving. Garnish the lobsters with chopped parsley and serve immediately with melted butter and lemon wedges on the side.
