Ingredients

  • 226 grams unsalted butter
  • 100 grams granulated sugar
  • 280 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 to 5 minutes. Use an electric mixer for best results.

Step 3

Sift the all-purpose flour and add it, along with a pinch of salt, to the creamed butter and sugar. Mix on low speed until the dough just comes together. It should be smooth and not sticky.

Step 4

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it a couple of times to form a ball. If the dough feels too soft, chill it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Roll the dough to approximately 1 cm (0.4 inches) thickness. Use a cookie cutter of your choice to cut the dough into shapes.

Step 6

Place the cut-out biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced evenly apart. Prick the surface of each biscuit gently with a fork to create a decorative pattern.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes until the edges are a pale golden color.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and allow the biscuits to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Store in an airtight container and enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
