Ingredients

  • 240 ml Espresso or strong coffee
  • 100 g Granulated sugar
  • 4 large Egg yolks
  • 500 g Mascarpone cheese
  • 240 ml Heavy cream
  • 200 g Ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)
  • 2 tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp Coffee liqueur (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare 240 ml of espresso or strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, add 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur for extra flavor.

Step 2

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk 4 egg yolks with 100 g of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 3

Fold in 500 g of mascarpone cheese, a little at a time, until smooth and fully combined.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whip 240 ml of heavy cream to stiff peaks using a hand mixer or a whisk.

Step 5

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and creamy. Be careful not to deflate the cream.

Step 6

Pour the cooled coffee into a shallow dish. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee for 2-3 seconds, ensuring they’re soaked but not soggy.

Step 7

Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a 9x9-inch dish or similar-sized container.

Step 8

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.

Step 9

Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Step 10

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to set.

Step 11

Prior to serving, dust the top of the tiramisu generously with 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder.
