Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 pieces Burger buns
  • 4 pieces Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large Tomato, sliced
  • 0.5 medium Red onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices Pickles
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons Mustard
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 2

Divide the seasoned beef mixture into four equal portions, shaping each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, lightly grease it with a bit of oil.

Step 4

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip.

Step 5

Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty is cooked to your desired doneness.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers: Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a layer of lettuce, a cooked beef patty, tomato slices, red onion slices, pickles, and a dollop of ketchup and mustard. Top with the bun tops.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, and enjoy your homemade hamburger!
