Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 1 whole Large egg
  • 0.25 cup Warm water
  • 1 for egg wash Egg
  • 0 Optional: Sea salt flakes

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Step 2

In a saucepan over low heat, melt 3/4 cup of the butter with the whole milk until the butter is fully melted. Let it cool to just warm.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, sugar, and salt. Stir well.

Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture along with the melted butter and milk mixture, and the egg.

Stir with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together.
