Ingredients

  • 16 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour, whisking constantly for about 1 minute until smooth.

Gradually whisk in the milk and continue to whisk until the mixture is thickened, about 5 minutes.
