Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 buns Hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 4 leaves Lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium Tomato
  • 8 slices Pickle slices
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons Mustard

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and pepper. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick.

Step 2

Slice the tomato into thin rounds and cut the red onion into thin rings. Prepare the lettuce leaves by washing and patting them dry. Set aside.

Step 3

Butter the inside of each hamburger bun lightly and set aside.

Step 4

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

Step 5

Place the burger patties on the preheated grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side until a crust forms.

Step 6

Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty, cover the grill, and allow the cheese to melt.

Step 7

While the burgers are cooking, toast the buttered sides of the hamburger buns on the grill until they are golden brown.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun, add a cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, a few pickle slices, and a few onion rings.

Step 9

Spread ketchup and mustard on the inside of the top bun, then place it onto the assembled burger.

Step 10

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade classic American Cheeseburgers.
