Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup
  • 1.5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried thyme
  • 0.5 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier cleanup.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten eggs, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.

Step 3

Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and paprika. Mix thoroughly using your hands or a wooden spoon until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, but avoid overmixing as it can make the meatloaf dense.

Step 4

Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down gently to shape it evenly.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and 1/4 cup of ketchup to create the glaze.

Step 6

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf using a spoon or spatula.

Step 7

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for about 60-65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) when tested with a meat thermometer.

Step 8

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and makes slicing easier.

Step 9

Carefully transfer the meatloaf to a serving platter. Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or a salad.
