Ingredients

  • 2 whole Oranges
  • 2 whole Lemons
  • 2 whole Limes
  • 100 grams Granulated Sugar
  • 250 milliliters Water

Directions

Step 1

Using a vegetable peeler, carefully peel the skins off the oranges, lemons, and limes, ensuring minimal white pith remains on the peel to avoid bitterness.

Step 2

Slice the peels into thin ribbons, approximately 1/8 inch wide. Set aside.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and forms a syrup. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

Step 4

Once the syrup is ready, add the citrus peel ribbons to the pan.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and simmer the peels in the syrup for 5-7 minutes, or until they soften and become translucent.

Step 6

Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove the citrus ribbons from the syrup and transfer them to a cooling rack set over a baking sheet to allow any excess syrup to drip off.

Step 7

Let the ribbons cool completely before using. They will firm up slightly as they cool.

Step 8

Serve as a garnish for desserts, cocktails, or salads. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
