Ingredients

  • 3 whole Oranges
  • 1 whole Grapefruit
  • 1 whole Lemon
  • 0.5 cup Golden raisins
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 whole Cinnamon stick
  • 5 leaves Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the citrus fruits: Using a sharp knife, peel the oranges, grapefruit, and lemon, removing all the white pith. Work over a bowl to catch any juices. Segment the citrus by slicing between the membranes to release the segments. Set the segments aside and pour any collected juice into a small saucepan.

Step 2

In the saucepan with the citrus juice, add the honey, water, golden raisins, vanilla extract, and cinnamon stick. Stir to combine.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the raisins plump up and the liquid slightly reduces.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from the heat and discard the cinnamon stick. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Step 5

Gently fold the citrus segments into the saucepan mixture, being careful not to break them. Transfer the compote to a serving dish or individual bowls.

Step 6

Optionally, garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and freshness. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.
