Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons Heavy cream

Directions

Step 1

Heat the milk in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave until warm but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted. Set aside to cool to lukewarm.

Step 2

In the bowl of your KitchenAid stand mixer, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes, or until it begins to foam.

Step 3

Add the lukewarm milk mixture, sugar, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture in the stand mixer bowl. Using the paddle attachment, mix on low speed until combined.

Step 4

Gradually add 3.5 cups of flour, one cup at a time, while mixing on low speed. Switch to the dough hook attachment, then knead on medium speed for 5–7 minutes, adding additional flour (up to 4 cups total) as needed until the dough is soft and elastic but not sticky.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling. Set aside.

Step 7

Punch down the dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a large rectangle, about 16x12 inches.

Step 8

Brush the surface of the dough with 2 tablespoons of melted butter, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the dough.

Step 9

Starting on one of the longer sides, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal it, then use a sharp knife or dental floss to cut the log into 12 even rounds.

Step 10

Place the rounds, cut side up, into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes.

Step 11

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and fluffy.

Step 12

Prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until smooth and pourable.

Step 13

Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.
