Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold, diced)
  • 3 quarters cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cups light brown sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 0.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Add the cold, diced butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Gradually pour in the 3/4 cups of milk, stirring gently with a fork until the dough just comes together. Do not over-mix.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 3-4 times to bring it together into a ball.

Step 6

Roll the dough out into a rough rectangle approximately 10x12 inches in size.

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix the light brown sugar and ground cinnamon together to create the cinnamon filling.

Step 8

Brush the melted butter (3 tablespoons) evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the butter, covering the surface evenly.

Step 9

Starting on one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 8 equal pieces.

Step 10

Arrange the pieces cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden-brown and puffed.

Step 12

While the biscuits bake, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.

Step 13

Remove the biscuits from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the warm biscuits and serve immediately.
