Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Milk (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 3/4 cups of the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat until the butter melts and the mixture is warm (110–115°F).

Step 3

Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Step 4

Add the egg and continue mixing. Gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup of flour until the dough becomes soft and slightly sticky.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Meanwhile, prepare the filling by combining brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter and set aside.

Step 8

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 12x15-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.

Step 9

Brush the melted butter over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered area.

Step 10

Starting from the longer edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

Step 11

Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces and place them, cut-side up, in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 12

Cover the dish with a towel and let the rolls rise for 30 minutes.

Step 13

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon snails for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 14

While the snails bake, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

Step 15

Once the cinnamon snails are done baking, drizzle the glaze over them while they are still warm. Serve immediately and enjoy!
