Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water (110°F)
  • 2 units Large eggs
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Whole milk (for the glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and 4 tablespoons of butter on low until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar. Let the mixture cool until lukewarm (about 110°F).

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm milk mixture, yeast mixture, eggs, 2 cups of flour, and salt. Mix until combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl but is still slightly sticky.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.

Step 8

Punch the dough down and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12x18-inch rectangle.

Step 9

Spread the softened butter (4 tablespoons) evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.

Step 10

Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seam to seal.

Step 11

Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 equal slices and arrange them in a greased 9x13-inch pan.

Step 12

Cover the pan with a towel and let the rolls rise for 30 minutes, until puffy.

Step 13

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 14

Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 15

While the rolls are baking, make the glaze. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth.

Step 16

Let the rolls cool for 10 minutes after removing them from the oven. Spread the glaze over the warm rolls and serve.
