Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 0.75 cups Whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese
  • 0.75 cups Powdered sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Whole milk (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Whisk together to combine.

Step 2

Warm the milk until it is lukewarm (about 110°F/43°C) and mix it with the melted butter. Add this mixture, along with the eggs, to the dry ingredients.

Step 3

Stir until a sticky dough forms, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-6 minutes on medium speed.

Step 4

Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Step 5

While the dough rises, prepare the filling by mixing the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.

Step 6

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle, approximately 18x12 inches.

Step 7

Spread the softened butter evenly over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top, covering the dough entirely.

Step 8

Cut the dough vertically into 4 equal strips, then stack the strips on top of each other. Cut the stacked strips into approximately 6 equal squares.

Step 9

Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and stack the squares vertically into the pan. Cover the pan and let the dough rise again for 30 minutes.

Step 10

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread is cooked through.

Step 11

While the bread bakes, prepare the glaze by whisking together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

Step 12

Once the bread is done, let it cool for 10-15 minutes, then drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!
