Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 0.75 cups Raisins
  • 0.75 cups Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Milk (for glaze)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Step 3

Using a pastry cutter or fork, cut the cold, cubed butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Stir in the raisins until evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.

Step 5

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the whole milk and vanilla extract.

Step 6

Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, gently stirring just until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 7

On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.

Step 8

Use a round biscuit cutter (or a similar tool) to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 13-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Step 10

While the biscuits are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 0.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.

Step 11

Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly, about 5 minutes.

Step 12

Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm biscuits and serve immediately.
