Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and the egg until well combined.

Step 5

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently with a spatula until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly crumbly.

Step 6

Lightly flour a clean work surface and turn the dough out onto it. Gently pat the dough into a round disk about 1 inch thick and 8 inches in diameter.

Step 7

Using a sharp knife or a bench scraper, cut the dough into 8 equal wedges. Transfer the wedges to the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake the scones in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 9

While the scones are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk in a small bowl until smooth.

Step 10

Allow the baked scones to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. Drizzle the glaze over the warm scones.

Step 11

Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your Cinnamon Maple Scones with a cup of tea or coffee!
