Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe bananas
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.75 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch round cake pan or springform pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Set aside.

Step 3

In another large bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Step 7

Gently fold in the mashed bananas, followed by the mini chocolate chips.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it out evenly.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 10

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 11

If desired, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving. Slice and enjoy!
