Ingredients

  • 4 medium Apples
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Wash and core the apples, removing the stem and seeds but leaving the bottom intact to hold the filling. Optionally, peel the top third of each apple.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.

Step 4

Place the cored apples in a baking dish and evenly spoon the sugar-cinnamon mixture into the center of each apple.

Step 5

Add a small piece of butter on top of the sugar mixture inside each apple's center.

Step 6

In a separate small bowl, combine water, lemon juice, and vanilla extract, then pour the mixture around the apples in the baking dish.

Step 7

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven.

Step 8

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork, but still hold their shape.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Step 10

Serve the warm baked apples with a drizzle of the syrup from the dish and, if desired, a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
