Ingredients

  • 4 cups canned navy beans
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it is crispy. Remove the bacon and place it on a plate lined with paper towels. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the rendered bacon fat in the skillet.

Step 3

Add the diced onion to the skillet with the bacon fat and sauté over medium heat until the onions are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Chop the cooked bacon into small pieces and set aside.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sautéed onions, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, ground black pepper, and water. Stir well until fully incorporated.

Step 6

Gently fold the canned navy beans and chopped bacon into the sauce mixture, ensuring all the beans are well-coated.

Step 7

Transfer the bean mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 9

After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 30-45 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the top is slightly caramelized.

Step 10

Allow the baked beans to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
