Ingredients

  • 200 grams All-purpose flour
  • 100 grams Unsalted butter
  • 60 grams Powdered sugar
  • 2 large Egg white
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 50 grams Optional: Melted chocolate

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter and powdered sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Step 3

Add the egg whites, one at a time, to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix thoroughly until fully incorporated.

Step 4

Stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Gradually sift in the all-purpose flour and fold it into the wet ingredients until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

Step 5

Spoon the batter into a piping bag fitted with a medium-round tip. Pipe strips of batter about 5 inches long and 1 inch wide onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each strip for spreading.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown. Keep a close eye on the cookies, as they bake quickly.

Step 7

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool for about 20 seconds (just until they are cool enough to handle but still pliable).

Step 8

Using a small offset spatula or butter knife, quickly lift one cookie strip and roll it into a cigar shape. Work quickly before the cookies harden. Repeat with the remaining strips.

Step 9

Let the rolled cookies cool completely on a wire rack before serving. If desired, dip the ends of the cooled cookies in melted chocolate and allow the chocolate to set for extra flair.

Step 10

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
