Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 cup Chutney (mango or tomato-based)
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 cup Chicken broth

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined, but avoid over-mixing to keep the meatballs tender.

Step 2

Roll the meat mixture into 1-inch balls and set them aside on a plate or tray.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, browning them on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per side). Remove the browned meatballs and set them aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add the chutney, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and chicken broth. Stir well to make the sauce and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, ensuring they are fully coated in the chutney sauce. Cover the skillet and let the meatballs cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Once the meatballs are fully cooked and the sauce has thickened, remove from heat.

Step 7

Serve the chutney meatballs warm as an appetizer with toothpicks, or over steamed rice or mashed potatoes for a main course.
