Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 0.75 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted, for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix the whole milk and 2 tablespoons of honey until combined. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it 2-3 times to bring it together. Pat the dough out into a 1-inch-thick circle or rectangle.

Step 6

Use a floured round biscuit cutter (about 2.5 inches in diameter) to cut out biscuits. Re-roll the scraps as needed to make more biscuits, but handle the dough as little as possible to keep it tender.

Step 7

Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, close together but not touching. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Step 8

While the biscuits are baking, prepare the honey glaze by combining the melted butter and 2 tablespoons of honey in a small bowl.

Step 9

As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, generously brush them with the honey glaze.

Step 10

Serve the biscuits warm, and enjoy their sweet, buttery flavor.
