Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 0.5 cups brown sugar
  • 0.5 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cups honey
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoons cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 0.5 cups water

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, honey, and Worcestershire sauce.

Step 2

Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the saucepan.

Step 3

Stir all ingredients together until well combined.

Step 4

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently to avoid sticking.

Step 5

Once it begins to simmer, reduce the heat to low and let the sauce cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

Step 6

If the sauce becomes too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the BBQ sauce to cool completely.

Step 8

Transfer the sauce to a clean jar or airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Step 9

Use as a baste, dip, or marinade for your favorite BBQ dishes, and enjoy!
