  • 100 grams candied mixed peel
  • 120 grams breadcrumbs
  • 120 grams plain flour
  • 200 grams suet (vegetarian or traditional)
  • 200 grams dark brown sugar
  • 1 lemon grated zest of lemon
  • 1 orange grated zest of orange
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons brandy
  • 120 milliliters milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 pinch pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the raisins, currants, sultanas, and candied mixed peel. Stir well to ensure even distribution.

Step 2

Add the breadcrumbs, plain flour, suet, dark brown sugar, lemon zest, orange zest, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground allspice, and a pinch of salt to the fruit mix. Toss everything together until thoroughly combined.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Stir in the brandy and milk.
