Ingredients

  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 2 cups Water
  • 0.5 cup Distilled White Vinegar
  • 0.25 cup Tomato Paste
  • 0.25 cup Orange Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Grated Orange Zest
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Cold Water (for cornstarch slurry)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, add raisins and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes or until the raisins are plump and soft.

Step 2

Transfer the cooked raisins and their water to a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth.

Step 3

Pour the raisin puree back into the saucepan and set over low heat.

Step 4

Add distilled white vinegar, tomato paste, orange juice, orange zest, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper to the saucepan.

Step 5

Stir the mixture well and let it simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water to create a smooth slurry.

Step 7

Slowly whisk the cornstarch slurry into the sauce. Continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Step 8

Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Step 9

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
