Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 200 grams Chorizo sausage
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 120 grams Cream cheese
  • 1 unit Egg
  • 2 stalks Green onions
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Butter (for greasing pan)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish with butter.

Step 2

On a lightly floured surface, roll out one puff pastry sheet to fit the bottom of the baking dish and place it inside, pressing gently into the corners.

Step 3

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chorizo sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small crumbles as it cooks. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chorizo, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, finely chopped green onions, salt, and black pepper. Stir until fully mixed.

Step 5

Spread the chorizo filling evenly on top of the puff pastry sheet inside the baking dish.

Step 6

Roll out the second puff pastry sheet to fit over the top of the chorizo filling. Place it over the filling and press the edges gently to seal the top and bottom layers of puff pastry together.

Step 7

Lightly beat the egg in a small bowl, then brush it over the top layer of puff pastry to ensure an even golden finish during baking.

Step 8

Using a sharp knife, score the top layer of puff pastry lightly to create a grid pattern for easy cutting after baking. Avoid cutting all the way through.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Cut into squares along the scored lines and serve warm.
