Ingredients

  • 2 cans canned tuna (drained)
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (grated)
  • 4 stalks scallions (sliced, green parts reserved for garnish)
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crispy chow mein noodles
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2

Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and the white parts of the scallions. Sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 4

Stir in the drained tuna and soy sauce, breaking up the tuna chunks gently. Cook for another 2 minutes.

Step 5

Reduce heat to low and mix in the frozen peas. Cook for 1-2 minutes, just until the peas are thawed.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, hoisin sauce, salt, and black pepper.

Step 7

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked noodles, tuna mixture, mayo-hoisin sauce, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until everything is evenly coated.

Step 8

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Step 9

Sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top, followed by the crispy chow mein noodles.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Step 11

Remove the bake from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with the sliced green scallion tops before serving.
