Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour two 9-inch round cake pans, then line the bottoms with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat on medium speed until well combined.
