Ingredients

  • 250 grams All-purpose flour
  • 30 grams Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 150 grams Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Zested orange peel (from 1 medium orange)
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 100 grams Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 50 grams Chopped almonds or hazelnuts (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and orange zest. Use your fingers to rub the zest into the sugar until fragrant and well combined.

Add the eggs, orange juice, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture. Whisk until smooth and fully incorporated.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until a dough begins to form. Avoid overmixing.
