Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup Chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 0.5 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream
  • 0.75 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Mix in the vanilla extract until combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the all-purpose flour and cocoa powder to the butter mixture, stirring until the dough forms. If the dough is too crumbly, stir in 1-2 teaspoons of milk to help bind it.

Step 5

Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans.

Step 6

Shape small portions of dough into log shapes, about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving a small amount of space between each cookie.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the logs are firm to the touch. Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 8

While the cookies cool, prepare the chocolate glaze. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to steam but does not boil.

Step 9

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until a smooth glaze forms.

Step 10

Once the cookies are fully cooled, drizzle or spread the chocolate glaze over each cookie log.

Step 11

Dust the glazed cookies with powdered sugar for a snowy effect.

Step 12

Allow the glaze to set before serving. Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
