Ingredients

  • 1 piece Pre-made pie crust (9-inch, deep-dish)
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1.5 cups Canned pumpkin purée
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Evaporated milk
  • 1 cup Whipped cream (optional, for serving)
  • 0.25 cup Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate, crimp the edges, and set aside.

Step 2

2. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave in 20-second increments, stirring well in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

Step 3

3. Pour the chocolate mixture into the bottom of the pie crust and spread it into an even layer. Place the crust in the refrigerator while preparing the pumpkin filling.

Step 4

4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin purée, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt until fully combined.

Step 5

5. Gradually whisk in the evaporated milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Step 6

6. Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator and carefully pour the pumpkin filling over the chocolate layer.

Step 7

7. Place the pie on the center rack of the preheated oven and bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.

Step 8

8. Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Step 9

9. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings, if desired.
