Ingredients

  • 4 cups puffed rice cereal
  • 200 grams milk chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoons sprinkles (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare a 12-cup muffin tin or a square 9-inch baking tin by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly.

Step 2

In a large microwave-safe mixing bowl, combine the milk chocolate, unsalted butter, and golden syrup.

Step 3

Microwave the mixture in 20-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the chocolate and butter are fully melted and smooth. You can also melt the mixture in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring constantly.

Step 4

Add the puffed rice cereal to the melted chocolate mixture and gently fold until all the cereal is well coated.

Step 5

If using marshmallows, fold them in at this stage for extra gooey texture.

Step 6

Divide the mixture evenly into the prepared muffin cups or press it evenly into the square baking tin.

Step 7

Optional: Decorate the top with sprinkles before the mixture sets.

Step 8

Let the krispies set at room temperature for 1-2 hours or refrigerate for 30 minutes until firm.

Step 9

If using a baking tin, slice the krispies into squares before serving. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
