Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.333 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.333 cup Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.25 cup Creamy peanut butter
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1 Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Stir in the creamy peanut butter until evenly distributed.

Step 5

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.

Step 6

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently mix until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 7

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times until it comes together.

Step 8

Roll the dough into a rectangle about 10 x 8 inches in size. Cut the dough into four equal squares, then cut each square diagonally to form 8 triangles.

Step 9

Place half of the chocolate chips or chunks in the center of one triangle. Top with another triangle and gently press the edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining dough and chocolate.

Step 10

Transfer the scones to the prepared baking sheet and brush with egg wash.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.

Step 12

Remove the scones from the oven and cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Step 13

Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving. Serve warm for the best gooey chocolate experience!
