Ingredients

  • 300 grams semi-sweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 12 small cupcake liners

Directions

Step 1

Prepare your workspace by lining a muffin tin with 12 small cupcake liners. Ensure all tools and surfaces are clean and dry, as water can cause chocolate to seize.

Step 2

Chop the semi-sweet chocolate into small, uniform pieces for even melting.

Step 3

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chopped chocolate and coconut oil. Microwave in 20-second increments, stirring between each session, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt the mixture in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method).

Step 4

Using a spoon, pour a small amount of melted chocolate into the base of each cupcake liner. Then, using the back of the spoon, gently spread the chocolate up the sides of the liner to form a cup shape. Ensure the layer is even but not too thin.

Step 5

Place the muffin tin in the refrigerator to allow the chocolate to set for around 10–15 minutes.

Step 6

Once the first layer has set, repeat the process to add a second layer of chocolate to each cup, paying extra attention to any thin spots. This will reinforce the structure of your cups.

Step 7

Refrigerate again for another 15–20 minutes or until completely firm.

Step 8

Once the chocolate cups are completely solid, carefully peel away the cupcake liners, starting from the edges and working slowly to avoid cracking the chocolate.

Step 9

Your chocolate cups are ready! Use them immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Step 10

Fill with ice cream, mousse, fruit, or any dessert of your choice and enjoy!
