Ingredients

  • 3 pieces Ripe bananas
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.75 cup Chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until smooth. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Step 4

In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 5

Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract to the wet mixture.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.

Step 7

Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step 10

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Step 11

Optional: Dust with powdered sugar or top with whipped cream before serving.
