Ingredients

  • 115 grams unsalted butter
  • 100 grams granulated sugar
  • 150 grams light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 125 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 150 grams old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 200 grams chocolate chunks
  • 0 milk (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to cream the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 4

In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Step 6

Fold in the rolled oats and chocolate chunks using a spatula or wooden spoon.

Step 7

Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still look slightly underdone.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve the cookies with milk (optional) or store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
