Ingredients

  • 16 oz Chocolate chip cookie dough (pre-made or homemade)
  • 12 oz Caramel candies (unwrapped)
  • 1 cup Chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to easily lift the bars out later.

Step 2

Press half of the chocolate chip cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the base layer.

Step 3

Place the caramel candies in a microwave-safe bowl with 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave in 20-30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the caramel is completely melted and smooth.

Step 4

Pour the melted caramel evenly over the cookie dough layer, spreading it gently with a spatula to cover the surface.

Step 5

Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the caramel layer.

Step 6

Press the remaining chocolate chip cookie dough gently on top of the nuts and caramel layer. It’s okay if some areas are not perfectly covered; the cookie dough will spread as it bakes.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top cookie layer is golden brown and cooked through.

Step 8

Remove the pan from the oven and let the bars cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bars out of the pan and onto a cutting board.

Step 9

Cut into 12 bars and serve. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
