Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs

  • 1 teaspoon Cream of tartar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground cardamom
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground cloves
  • 0.25 cup Sugar (for rolling)
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.

In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cardamom, and ground cloves.
