Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 0.5 cup sweetened condensed milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir until evenly distributed.

Step 3

Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave, then pour it into the dry ingredients. Add the vanilla extract, and mix until the mixture is crumbly and well-combined.

Step 4

Reserve about 3/4 cup of the crumbly mixture for the topping. Press the remaining mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create an even base layer.

Step 5

In a small saucepan over low heat, mix together the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips. Stir constantly until the chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Step 6

Pour the melted chocolate-butterscotch mixture evenly over the oatmeal crust in the baking dish, spreading it out with a spatula to cover the base completely.

Step 7

Sprinkle the reserved crumbly mixture evenly over the top of the chocolate-butterscotch layer.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling slightly.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for about 1–2 hours before slicing into squares.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
