Ingredients

  • 300 grams Dark or milk chocolate (high-quality, for melting)
  • 6 pieces Small balloons
  • 1 teaspoon Cooking spray or oil (for greasing balloons)
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper

Directions

Step 1

Blow up the small balloons to the desired size for your chocolate bowls and tie them securely. Avoid overinflating.

Step 2

Lightly grease the bottom half of each balloon with a thin layer of cooking spray or oil to prevent the chocolate from sticking.

Step 3

Roughly chop the chocolate into small, even pieces and melt it using a double boiler or in the microwave in 20-30 second intervals, stirring frequently until smooth.

Step 4

Let the melted chocolate cool for about 5 minutes. It should still be liquid but not too hot to the touch.

Step 5

Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 6

Dip the greased bottom of each balloon into the melted chocolate, swirling it to coat the bottom and sides to form a 'bowl' shape. Lift the balloon and allow any excess chocolate to drip off.

Step 7

Place the chocolate-coated balloons on the parchment-lined tray with the chocolate side down. If needed, add a small dollop of chocolate at the base to create a stable bottom.

Step 8

Repeat this process for all the balloons and then transfer the tray to the refrigerator. Let the chocolate set completely, about 30-45 minutes.

Step 9

Once the chocolate is hardened, carefully pop each balloon with a pin or needle. Gently peel away and remove the balloon pieces from the chocolate bowls.

Step 10

Trim any uneven edges of the bowls with a sharp knife if necessary.

Step 11

Use the chocolate bowls immediately or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
