Ingredients

  • 2 cups Unsalted roasted peanuts
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 2 teaspoons Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Directions

Step 1

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 3

Once the sugar has dissolved, stop stirring and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes or until the syrup thickens slightly. Watch carefully to avoid burning.

Step 4

Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, ground cinnamon, and ground ginger. Mix until well combined.

Step 5

Add the unsalted roasted peanuts to the saucepan and stir to coat them evenly in the sugar mixture. Lower the heat slightly and cook for 7-8 minutes, stirring continuously, until the mixture clings to the peanuts and forms a thick coating.

Step 6

Add the butter and toasted sesame seeds to the saucepan. Stir until the butter melts and integrates with the mixture, giving the peanuts a glossy finish.

Step 7

Quickly transfer the coated peanuts onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spoon to form small clusters or spread them into a single layer if preferred.

Step 8

Allow the peanut clusters to cool completely at room temperature, about 30 minutes, until they harden.

Step 9

Once cooled, break any large pieces apart as needed. Store the clusters in an airtight container for up to one week.
