Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground chicken
  • 8 leaves Iceberg or butter lettuce
  • 3 tablespoons Hoison sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely sliced
  • 1 can (8 oz) Water chestnuts, chopped
  • 1 medium Carrots, finely chopped or grated
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the lettuce leaves by separating them carefully and rinsing under cold water. Pat dry with a paper towel and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to create the sauce. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the cooking oil and swirl to coat.

Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the ground chicken to the skillet and cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until fully cooked and no longer pink, about 5-6 minutes.
