Ingredients

  • 400 g Beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tsp Sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp Red chilli flakes
  • 1 tbsp Hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds, toasted
  • 2 stalks Scallions, sliced
  • 1 Red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups Cooked white rice (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon sesame oil. Mix well and let it marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef in batches and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 3

In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and red chilli flakes. Stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the red bell pepper to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and 1 teaspoon sesame oil. Pour the mixture into the pan and stir to combine.

Step 6

Return the cooked beef to the pan and toss well to coat everything in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Step 7

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced scallions over the beef. Toss briefly and remove from heat.

Step 8

Serve hot over cooked white rice and enjoy!
