Ingredients

  • 1 lb Large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp Kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp Chinese hot mustard powder
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks Green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups Ice cubes

Directions

Step 1

Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add the kosher salt to the water.

Step 2

Add the shrimp to the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and are opaque.

Step 3

Quickly drain the cooked shrimp and transfer them to a large bowl filled with ice cubes and cold water to stop the cooking process. Let them chill for 5 minutes, then drain and pat dry.

Step 4

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the Chinese mustard powder, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste if needed.

Step 5

In a large bowl, combine the chilled shrimp with the mustard sauce and toss gently to coat evenly.

Step 6

Transfer the coated shrimp to a serving plate and garnish with the thinly sliced green onions.

Step 7

Serve immediately as an appetizer or refrigerate for up to 1 hour before serving for extra chilliness. Enjoy!
